I’ve got to say that Twitter model Aubrey O’Day has really been stepping up her game recently. I guess she’s finally realized that nobody wants actual photoshoot shots of her and that some trashy self shots in the bathroom with her thonged friend is the best way to go. I couldn’t agree more. By Jocelyn Vena "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D Photo: Tom Briglia/ FilmMagic A while back, there was a rumor that "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D would be an opening act on Britney Spears' Femme Fatale tour. That rumor can now be confirmed as true. Pauly D will open for the singer on six of her August tour dates. He's set to hit the road with Spears on August 17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before his jaunt with her wraps on August 25 in Charlotte, South Carolina. "I am so excited to be performing on the Britney Spears Femme Fatale tour," he said in a statement. "Britney is one of my favorite performers and certainly one of this generation's most influential artists. It's an amazing platform to connect with my fans around the country." Spears currently has several artists opening for her, including Jessie and the Toy Boys, Nervo and Nicki Minaj. Pauly D served as Spears' warm-up act at her gig in Las Vegas in March, where he spoke to MTV News about her influence on pop music. "What it means to DJ a concert like a Britney Spears concert or something like that, it's an association with monsters like Britney Spears and it just legitimizes your career," he explained at the Palms Hotel and Casino, where Spears electrified the stage just days before she dropped her album. "And it's just fun being onstage with Britney Spears performing like she's performing. I love it. I couldn't ask for more." And if fans are expecting Pauly to DJ some of the singer's greatest hits, they'd better think again. "A DJ should not play the artist's songs at her concert 'cause she has to perform these songs," he said. "I'm not going to be playing any Britney before she performs; maybe after. I'll let her perform, let her shine 'cause it's her night." DJ Pauly D will join Britney Spears' Femme Fatale tour on the following dates: »August 17 - Grand Rapids, MI @ Van Andel Arena »August 19 - Pittsburgh, PA @ CONSOL Energy Center »August 20 - Columbus, OH @ Nationwide Arena »August 22 - Indianapolis, IN @ Conseco Fieldhouse »August 24 - Raleigh, NC @ RBC Center »August 25 - Charlotte, SC @ Time Warner Cable Center Related Videos Related Photos Related Artists Source: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1667867/britney-spears-dj-pauly-d-femme-fatale-tour.jhtml Scarlett Johansson Selita Ebanks Shakara Ledard Album art from Pink Floyd, Blur and David Bowie also included. By James Montgomery Coldplay's new British stamps Photo: Royal Mail On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years. The albums featured in the new series are the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, Led Zeppelin's IV, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, The Clash's London Calling, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Blur's Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head. Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery. "Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time." Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date." "We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too." By Akshay Bhansali Nervo Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images With Britney Spears' flashy Femme Fatale Tour closing out its remaining North American dates later this month, it's fair to say that many of Ms. Spears' concert-going fans have gotten to know Olivia and Miriam Nervo pretty well. In fact, when Brit first announced her Femme Fatale lineup back in April, promising on her website, "Nervo will get everyone on the dancefloor," dance music fans were ecstatic about the inclusion of the DJ/producer twins whose writing credits include a song for Spears and David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's "When Love Takes Over." MTV News recently caught up with the Australian sisters (and former models), and they told us that bussing across the States and sharing the stage with Nicki Minaj, Jessie and the Boy Toys, and Brit herself, has been a stellar opportunity. "We've definitely seen both the girls, [Britney and Nicki], and we interact with them," Miriam, a.k.a. Mim, told us. "You are traveling to each city and you see the same people every day and it really becomes a family. So it's been an amazing experience." "It's an amazing show," Liv added. "The girls, the lineup really works well together. You've got Britney, who I think is looking the best she's looked in a really long time and who really gives it her all on this tour. And then you've got Nicki, who definitely brings her edge to it. I'd never seen Nicki live, and I'm just so blown away. The girl can sing, rap — total respect to her!" As the Femme Fatale Tour winds down Stateside before heading to Europe, Nervo are now looking to expand the fanbase they've built in the U.S. But while Liv and Mim have been a part of what might be considered the mother of all pop music tours, the duo insist that they intend to remain true to their dance music and DJ roots. "When we signed the record deal, it was really important to us that we could take our DJ'ing seriously and release club records," Liv explained of their Astralwerks label. "Yeah, we want to be DJ artists," Mim added. "That's what we love so, luckily, we can release some club records alongside our Astralwerks album," Liv said. "It just so happens that the Astralwerks single that we're coming out with is with two major club guys: Afrojack and Steve Aoki. It's called 'We're All No One.' We love it!" While Liv and Mim do the singing on "No One," the beats are delivered by hard-hitting EDM producer Aoki and David Guetta protégé Afrojack (who's also behind Pitbull's smash summer anthem "Give Me Everything." So exactly what should fans expect to hear? According to Liv and Mim, they should expect the unexpected. "It doesn't sound anything like Afrojack or anything like Steve Aoki," Mim teased. "It's gonna be an interesting one. It could fly, and it could flop. It's very different. It's nothing like any of the stuff we've done with any of the pop stars we've worked with." And Nervo have worked with a few. Though nothing is locked in yet, the twin sisters have been busy exchanging ideas with the likes of Omarion and Macy Gray, as well as dance music acts Avicii, Norman Doray and John Dahlbäck. "We're All No One" drops later this month. Fans can catch Nervo on the Femme Fatale Tour's remaining U.S. dates and on select dates of the Identity Festival, America's first traveling EDM fest, which kicks off August 11 in Indiana. By Christina Garibaldi Britney Spears Britney Spears is currently in the midst of her Femme Fatale Tour. And now that the pop princess has shaken off all those pre-tour nerves, she's been giving fans a dance-heavy spectacle that some have called her "flashiest" yet. When MTV News recently caught up with Spears, she opened up about life on the road. "Good, really good," Spears said of how things are going on her seventh concert tour. "It's like every other day we have another show, so we are really busy. It's a lot of fun. I like being busy." Spears — who is nominated for Best Pop Video and Best Choreography at the 2011 Video Music Awards — gave credit to her fans for making each show so memorable. "The shows have been equally amazing," Spears said. "The crowds have been so good each night and that gives you the adrenaline you need to get through the show. It just pumps you up. Every night is a blast." And before Brit hits the stage each night, she and her dancers always get together for a pre-show ritual. "We always say a prayer before the show; sometimes a really long prayer, sometimes a short prayer. We just do it; we grab each other's hands and go do it." On Monday, the Femme Fatale Tour added another opening act: "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D confirmed he'll be hitting the road to open for Spears on six of her August dates. "Yes, that's interesting!" Spears gushed about Pauly D joining opening acts Nicki Minaj, Jessie and the Toy Boys, and Nervo. So will Spears tune into the upcoming season of "Jersey Shore"? "It's a guilty pleasure," she admitted. "I've seen two or three episodes; it's cool." Will you catch Britney on tour this summer? Tell us in the comments! By James Montgomery with MTV News staff Alison Krauss and Robert Plant accept the award for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images "I'm bewildered," Robert Plant said onstage as he accepted the Grammy Album of the Year award with Alison Krauss on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday." He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect Grammy album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards. You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history. Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released. And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain. And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified. To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album. "At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards." By Gil Kaufman Blake Shelton Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Blake Shelton was already a beloved country star before he became a reality-TV double-threat. But thanks in part to his breakout role on "The Voice," Miranda Lambert's better half is reaping plenty of benefits, including a #1 debut on the Billboard 200 charts next week for his new album, Red River Blue. According to figures provided by SoundScan, Shelton's sixth studio album, his first #1 debut ever and highest-charting album to date, sold 116,000 copies last week. Just behind was the first album in five years from floaty rockers Incubus with If Not Now, When, which debuts at #2 on sales of 80,000. They lead a parade of new faces in the top 10 that also includes country singer Chris Young, whose Neon hit #4 in its first week (73,000), pop smoothie Colbie Caillat's All of You (#6, 66,000), head-bangers Theory of a Deadman's Truth Is (#8, 38,000) and the debut from the rebooted Sublime with new singer Rome, Yours Truly (#9, 35,000). The rest of the top 10: Adele's 21 (#3, 77,000), Beyoncé's 4 (#5, 72,000), Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party (#7, 42,000) and Selena Gomez and the Scene's When the Sun Goes Down (#10, 33,000). A couple of former top 10 dwellers fall to the second rung, including Eminem's Hell: The Sequel project under the Bad Meets Evil banner (#11, 30,000), Lady Gaga's Born This Way (down five to #13, 25,000) and Jill Scott's Light of the Sun (#14, 21,000). The soundtrack to "Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows, Part 2" comes in at #25, while indie darlings Washed Out crash in at #26 with the excellent Within & Without (#26, 15,000). And it was a short trip to the top 10 for R&B crooner Lloyd, who plummets 39 spots to #49 in the second week for King of Hearts (9,000). Over on the iTunes chart Caillat sits atop the album tally, followed by Shelton, Incubus, Adele, Sublime, Chris Young, Theory of a Deadman, Beyoncé, Bad Meets Evil and the unstoppable Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More. LMFAO continue to rule the iTunes singles chart with their summer hit "Party Rock Anthem," which beats out Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper," Katy Perry's "Last Friday (T.G.I.F.)," Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" and Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight." Rounding out the top 10 at #6 are Lil Wayne's "How to Love," Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," OneRepublic's "Good Life" and Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem." Things should be fairly static next week, with the only new titles including a new Kidz Bop Kids title and albums from 311, 3 Doors Down and DJ Khaled.
